Chapter 16 Rooftop Protection
Posted on July 19, 2011 by SPetty
As long as there have been Kitchen Exhaust Fans grease damage to rooftops has been a problem. Earlier Exhaust Fans were primary downdraft. This type of fan blew down directly on the roof and the grease laden vapors were bounced off the roof. NFPA 96 at one time had a requirement that down draft fans had to have a metal pan installed under the fans. Later, Up blast fans became the standard.
